(Frequently Asked Questions)
What does AVIONMAR do?
AVIONMAR advises clients on aircraft acquisition, sales and financing. We support the full transaction lifecycle, from market positioning and sourcing to negotiation, pre-buy, closing and handover.
Do you only work with publicly listed aircraft?
No. A significant part of our work is off-market sourcing through our broker and operator network. This often improves confidentiality and can open opportunities not visible in public listings.
Where is AVIONMAR based?
AVIONMAR is headquartered in Vienna, Austria, with a second office in Pörtschach. We were founded in 2010 and are a member of the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA). While we are based in Austria, we source and transact business aircraft for clients worldwide.
What types of aircraft does AVIONMAR broker?
We focus on business aviation — business jets and helicopters across the light, midsize and large-cabin segments. Whether you are acquiring a single private jet or repositioning a fleet asset, we source candidates worldwide and assess each one against your mission profile and budget.
How long does an aircraft sale usually take?
It depends on aircraft type, condition, maintenance status and current demand. Typical timelines range from a few weeks to several months. We provide realistic timing guidance based on current market evidence.
Can you help if I am buying my first aircraft?
Yes. We guide first-time buyers through mission definition, shortlist creation, technical and records review, negotiation structure, and closing logistics so decisions are made with full clarity.
Do you arrange financing as well?
Yes. We work with specialist lenders and leasing partners to structure loan or lease solutions aligned with your ownership model, jurisdiction and transaction profile.
What is the difference between an aircraft loan and a lease?
With a loan you finance the purchase and own the aircraft, building equity while repaying principal and interest. With a lease you pay to operate an aircraft owned by the lessor, usually with lower upfront capital and defined end-of-term options. The right structure depends on your tax position, usage and ownership horizon.
How is an aircraft's market value determined?
Value reflects make and model, year, total time and cycles, maintenance and inspection status, engine program enrollment, avionics, interior and exterior condition, damage history and current supply and demand. We benchmark each aircraft against comparable transactions so pricing is grounded in current market evidence rather than asking prices alone.
How is AVIONMAR compensated?
Our compensation is agreed transparently at the outset of each mandate, before any work begins. Because we represent only one side of a transaction, our incentives stay aligned with yours — there are no conflicting house positions or hidden inventory to work around.
What information do you need to start a search mandate?
We usually begin with mission profile, preferred aircraft category, passenger and range requirements, budget framework, timeline, and any registration or operational constraints.
Can AVIONMAR help with pre-buy inspections and closing?
Yes. We coordinate pre-buy inspections, records checks, negotiation of findings, escrow and documentation workflows so the transaction moves from offer to delivery with fewer surprises.
Does AVIONMAR publish market data or reports?
Yes. We publish concise market reports on selected business aircraft types, summarizing listing activity and pricing context to support acquisition and sales decisions. You can browse the latest editions on our Market Reports page, or request a report focused on a specific target aircraft.
How do I get in touch?
Use the contact form or call us directly. We can also discuss your requirements via a confidential introductory call before any formal mandate is agreed.
